Aroush K shares her experience with KC MedBridge

Aroush started on her journey with the KC MedBridge program, driven by a passion for healthcare and a desire to explore medical careers. This program offered her a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience, observe the inner workings of a medical office, and shadow seasoned professionals.

Aroush shared, ”It was a really good opportunity, and I got to see what the medical field is like. I got to see how Dr. Darwish was in action with all his patients and how he interacted with them and the different medical procedures he did. I enjoyed the way he teaches and explains everything easily. The best thing was how I got to experience all these real-life situations while in the workplace.”

One of Aroush’s favorite aspects of the program was being immersed in Dr. Darwish’s office environment. She admired his passion for his profession and his friendly, patient care. Aroush now further appreciates communication in healthcare as her shadowing experience proved it to be a pivotal aspect in her future medical career.

Through this experience, Aroush learned the importance of communication and patience-- skills that are essential in any medical profession. She plans to continue developing these skills, recognizing their value in providing compassionate and competent care.

Aroush’s time with KC Med Bridge has been transformative, reinforcing her commitment to healthcare. Her journey is a testament to the program’s ability to inspire and prepare the next generation of medical professionals.

KC MedBridge MedConnect Event

On February 27, 2025, KC MedBridge hosted MedConnect, a groundbreaking networking event designed to bridge the gap between high school students and healthcare professionals. Held at the Blue Valley Southwest Fixed Forum, the event brought together aspiring medical students, health clubs, and experienced physicians for an evening of insight, connection, and mentorship.

Our distinguished guest speakers, Ameen Awad and Karen Moussa, shared their journeys through the UMKC six-year BA/MD medical program, offering invaluable advice on the fast-tracked path to becoming a physician.

Thanks to the $5 entry fee, participating schools were recognized as official donors to the KC MedBridge Scholarship Fund, helping students offset the costs of higher education.

Spreading KCMedBridge

KC MedBridge is excited to announce the expansion of its programs to Omaha, Nebraska with the launch of MedPathNE. MedPathNE will provide students in Omaha with the same immersive learning experience, creating a pathway for future healthcare professionals. Trunk or Treat for Breast Cancer

KC MedBridge recently hosted our first event, Trunk or Treat for Breast Cancer, which welcomed over 100 attendees and raised more than $1,000. Funds were collected through various activities, including face painting, a bonfire, and trunk-or-treating. We received generous support from Yafa Café, Teriyaki Madness, Park’s Kitchen, Jerusalem Café, and Melted KC, who contributed donations for the cause.

We were also thrilled to partner with Art for Hearts, a local art school that set up a booth where children created cards for breast cancer patients. Half of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, supporting its mission to aid patients and raise awareness.

UPDATE:

We initially planned to donate 50% of the proceeds to the National Breast Cancer Foundation but have adjusted it to 25% based on our intended contribution. The remaining funds will support KC MedBridge’s mission. We appreciate your support!
